Our Bio
Working with horses has been a lifelong love for
me. As a child, I was sure they could bottle up the smell of a horse and
sell it. I remember the excitement of climbing on a horse, the way it
breathed, and the noise it made as it walked along the path. I simply
enjoyed everything about having a horse and caring for it. I grew up in a
small community where we did not have 4-H activities as we do in South
Dakota. I learned in my earlier days by riding for hours at my
grandmothers farm. One of my highlights came once a year
when my aunt would take me to the Charity Horse Show, which was an hour from
where we lived. This show had every breed imaginable. We would spend hours
watching them in the show ring, walking around listening to the
trainers
talk and watching how they took care of and rode their horses. We always
would return home and try all the new things we had learned. As I became
older I took lessons. We had an instructor come to the house and work with
my sister and I. I would spend hours grooming and playing with my horse.
It's a
passion that I don't seem to outgrow.
My family and I moved to West Ridge (WREC) 15
months ago, unsure what
it would bring. We have
had and continue to have day camps, riding lessons, horse training, horse
boarding, clinics and barrel racing. We enjoy the experience of meeting new
families and sharing in the common love we have for
horses. I hope to add more activities to WREC in the future. Meanwhile we
take it day by day, enjoying the beautiful farm. It is wonderful to come out
and see the horses moving around the pasture, the
grass blowing gently in the wind, the clear blue sky, the
rolling pastures, and riding around those pastures
while enjoying the smell of nature. It's so refreshing to
just lay in the grass and soak up the country life. I have passed this peace
on to my boarders, lesson students, campers and those who just come out to
get away from it all. I hope I can share some of this magnificent place with
others so they may enjoy it also.
